I had the esteemed pleasure of embarking on a one-day excursion to Jerash, Ajloun, and Pella with the esteemed Map Tours. From the moment we set off from Amman, I knew that this journey would be nothing short of extraordinary. Our first stop was the ancient city of Jerash, where the ruins of a once-thriving Roman city stood before us in all of their majestic glory. As we wandered through the ancient streets and marvelled at the well-preserved architecture, it was easy to imagine what life was like in this bustling city thousands of years ago. Next, we made our way to the hilltop castle of Ajloun, where panoramic views of the surrounding countryside took our breath away. The history and significance of this fortress were palpable, and I could sense the spirits of past occupants lingering in the air. The highlight here was undoubtedly the Ajloun Cable Car ride. Soaring through the sky, we were treated to breathtaking views of the lush hills and the surrounding forests. It's one of those experiences you can't replicate — the thrill of seeing nature from above combined with the serene beauty of the landscape left me utterly awestruck. Our final destination was the archaeological site of Pella, where ancient ruins dating back to the Greco-Roman period lay scattered across the landscape. The sheer magnitude of the history that surrounded us was awe-inspiring, and I felt fortunate to be able to witness it firsthand. Overall, my day with Map Tours was a superlative experience that I will cherish for a lifetime. My one-day adventure through Jordan's ancient wonders with Map Tours was a whirlwind of history, stunning landscapes, and friendly service. Starting from Amman, the day was perfectly paced, hitting all the highlights of Jerash, Ajloun, and Pella without feeling rushed. Jerash, the "Pompeii of the East," truly lived up to its name. Stepping into the perfectly preserved Roman city was like travelling back in time. The breathtaking architecture of the oval plaza, the imposing triumphal arch, and the intricate mosaics left me in awe. Our guide, Ayman, shared fascinating stories about the city's history and its daily life, bringing the ruins to life. Ajloun Castle, perched high on a hilltop, offered panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The 12th-century fortress, a testament to the Ayyubid dynasty, was a highlight for its impressive architecture and strategic location. The climb to the top was worth every step, rewarding us with breathtaking scenery and a glimpse into Jordan's rich past. Pella, nestled among rolling hills, was a welcome change of pace. Though less grand than Jerash, the ancient city offered a glimpse into Hellenistic and Roman life. The well-preserved ruins, including the impressive church and bathhouse, revealed the intricate details of a forgotten civilization. The peaceful setting provided a perfect opportunity to reflect on the journey's historical journey. Map Tours ensured a seamless and comfortable experience throughout the day. The comfortable air-conditioned vehicle comfortably accommodated our group, and the driver was skilled and courteous. The tour guide was knowledgeable, passionate, and engaging, making the historical sites come alive.
